Grant/Scholarship Programs
Historic Marker Grant Program
The purpose of a grant from the GSCW Historic Marker Grant Program (“Program”) is to enable a State Society to:
1) Place a new, simple, and easy marker to commemorate colonial history.
2) Conduct a dedication ceremony of grace, dignity and gravitas, and
3) Hold a celebration, to promote camaraderie amongst our fellow Warriors, all as prescribed in the Preamble. In short, we seek to honor our ancestors, promulgate colonial history, and have some fun in so doing.
Matching Grant Program
The basic parameters of the program remain unchanged this year: the General Society will match contributions made by the State Societies to nonprofit organizations that support (or focus on) America’s colonial period, 1607-1775. This might involve collecting, preserving, and promoting important colonial manuscripts, membership rolls, or service records, placing markers and monuments at sites where significant events in the colonial period occurred, or sponsoring research and scholarship examining some aspect of the colonial period.
Samuel Victor Constant Fellowship
The Constant Society provides a tangible way to enhance the General Society’s efforts to encourage interest and study in the colonial period of our nation’s history. By establishing the Samuel Victor Constant Fellowship, the General Society provides a venue whereby individuals or organizations may support the charitable goals of the General Society. In nominating an individual to be a Samuel Victor Constant fellow a contribution is made to the General Society’s education endowment fund. That contribution is matched by the General Society and provides the resources for the scholarships program.
Website Grant Program
The purpose of a grant endorsed by the GSCW Education Program is to assist a State Society that wishes to participate in the program in paying for a new or revamped website that incorporates a substantive state Colonial History.
The State Society may request a grant of up to $2,500, the limit currently set by the Executive Committee.
